Diaper Service
No. However, Cheerful Cheeks does require an initial 4 week commitment to using our service. After this initial 4 weeks, users are free to cancel their service at any time given at least 1 week's notice.
The more notice you can give, the smoother the process.
Cheerful Cheeks generally ask for 2-3 weeks notice prior to the date of your first delivery.
The only extra items you need to buy are the water resistant diaper covers. These covers can be similar to the plastic pants of old. They go over top of the diapers to prevent moisture from escaping the diaper.
Cheerful Cheeks delivers cloth diapers to London and the surrounding communities.
Here is our service area map.

However, we do offer diaper cover rentals. For $0.50 per week per cover, size xsmall and small diaper covers can be supplied upon request.
Diaper covers are also available for purchase in our online shop, as well as through some of our Friends. Many of the Cheerful Cheeks starter packs come with diaper covers included.
Diaper covers are also available at several retail and department stores in London.
No. We do not wash your diaper covers. Please do not put your diaper covers into your diaper pail.
Diaper covers are made out of a variety of different materials and require different laundering than Cheerful Cheeks diapers. Also, diaper covers do not get as soiled as quickly and often can be used multiple times before laundering. Many diaper covers can be washed with your baby's regular laundry. If you are concerned about how to wash a particular style of diaper cover, please give us a call or email us and we will be glad to help you out.
Diaper Cover rentals are to be kept and home laundered until their return. When they are returned, they are professionally washed and completely sanitized.
Please call as soon as you realize that you have forgotten to put your diapers out.
Arrangements will be made to pick them up as soon as possible.
If an alternate delivery date must be arranged, you may be charged a $5.00 fee.
You will still receive your regular delivery of diapers even if your previous week's diapers have not been put out.
No. If you are requesting this because you are worried about bacteria from other children, please rest assured that our washing process is so thorough that 99.99% of all germs are killed in the first few cycles. Our diapers are sanitized in 180oF degree temperature and are PH tested per load.
Cheerful Cheeks strives to provide our customers with the best diapering experience possible and we will try our best to meet your needs.
We currently do not offer training pants as part of the diaper service, but if there is enough interest we would consider adding this product. In the mean time, cloth training pants can be purchased from our Online Shop.
Yes. We offer prefolds upon request. Please contact Cheerful Cheeks for more information about our getting set up with our prefold service.
There are no cancellation fees. Cheerful Cheeks clients are free to cancel any time after the first four weeks.
Cheerful Cheeks requires one week's notice for cancellations. If a cancellation is requested without giving adequate notice, Cheerful Cheeks will still bill for the following week.
Cloth Diapering
There is evidence that indicates that kids train faster in cloth.
The theory is that cloth allows a child to feel when they are wet. It allows them to associate wetness with the feelings of elimination. Kids in disposables can't feel when they are wet, and so they don't learn to associate these feelings until much later.
An article from the Wall Street Journal presented statistics that kids in cloth train at 24-30 months, while kids in disposables train around 36-40 months.
Here are other interesting statistics about toilet training trends:
In 1957, 92% percent of children were toilet trained by 18 months.
Cloth diaper usage at this time was 100%.
Today, only 25% of kids are toilet trained by 18 months. More than half of kids (60%) train at 36 months. There are about 2% of children who aren't trained by age 48 months.
Cloth diaper usage today is about 10%.
Yes. Fitted diapers are shaped like disposable diapers and they go on the same way.
Yes. Cheerful Cheeks diapers are absorbent and do not contain a waterproof layer. It is recommended that you use a diaper cover.
Environmental
No. Our diapers are made in London, Ontario by moms and grandmoms!
No.
What caused this misconception was a study commissioned by Proctor and Gamble (Pampers!) in 1991. They wanted this study done because the US government was considering a ban on the use of disposables because of the harm they cause to environment. This study was found to be misleading by the Advertising Standards Authority in Great Britain and was prohibited from being mentioned in advertising.
This study was flawed in many ways. It did not take into consideration the transportation of the disposable diapers or the complete manufacturing process. It also didn't take into consideration the severity of the pollution produced. The water waste from the manufacturing of disposable diapers contains highly toxic and carcinogenic substances. Water waste from cloth contains only fecal matter and detergents, which are processed properly in sewage plants.
Disposables use 37% more water in their production than home laundered or service laundered cloth diapers. With the advent of high efficiency washing machines that have cut water consumption from an average of 30 gallons per load to 5-7 gallons, this percentage is even higher.
Disposables use more resources than cloth. See our page on the environment for a partial list of the resources necessary to diaper just one child in disposables. Many of the resources used for disposables are not renewable.
Disposables consume 70% more energy than cloth. This is figure may be higher now considering the improvements made in the efficiency of washers and dryers in the last 15 years.
